“Crazy in Love” was written by Even Stevens and Randy McCormick. The song was first recorded by Joe Cocker for his 1984 album *Civilized Man*. Kim Carnes later covered it in 1988, reaching the Adult Contemporary chart. Conway Twitty recorded his own version for the 1990 album of the same name, released by MCA Records on February 2, 1990. The track was issued as a single in August of that year.
Twitty’s recording climbed to number two on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart in November 1990 and reached number one on the Cash Box country chart, making it the final song of his career to top a national listing. It also peaked at number four on the Canadian RPM Country Tracks chart. The parent album *Crazy in Love*, Twitty’s fifty-fifth studio release, produced a second Top Three single in “I Couldn’t See You Leavin’.”
The lyric looks back on the early intensity of a relationship and the desire to reclaim that feeling.
